A Glimpse of Gotland
A free browser strategy game set on medieval Gotland. This season the island looks to the sea: open trade routes abroad, set up a Kontör in the Hanseatic cities, and band together when the Pirate King comes raiding.
The Game
Set on the historic island of Gotland, Sweden, Imperia Borealis is a browser-based multiplayer strategy game. Manage your estate's economy, train armies, choose a religious path, and compete with other lords for control of the island's parishes. There's nothing to download. It runs in your browser on desktop and mobile.
Construct farms, quarries, lumbermills, and mines. Assign workers and manage a real-time economy driven by wheat, stone, lumber, and iron.
Rally militia, archers, and knights. Launch attacks on rival estates, pillage resources, and defend your lands from invaders and bandits.
Send caravans to Visby's market, then load ships and trade across the Baltic with the Hanseatic Kontörs in Bruges, Novgorod, Bergen and Lübeck.
Choose the path of Aesir or Christianity. Perform rituals that grant production bonuses, combat blessings, or powerful defensive wards.
Cooperate with neighbours to build a Tingsplats, vote on parish-wide decisions, and unlock collective bonuses for everyone in the region.
Explore Gotland's 92 hand-drawn parishes. Every estate, outpost, road, and army is visible on the shared island map.
The pirate Klaus Störtebeker raids Sandön all season. You won't beat him alone, so pool your armies with other lords and push him back before he chokes your trade routes.

Season 1 runs for three months on its own fresh map. It opens up overseas trade, ocean voyages and a new enemy in the Pirate King. It closes on the 4th of September, so there's no better time to start.
Set up trading houses in the Hanseatic cities and earn season points by keeping their markets supplied.
Load your ships at the port and send them across the Baltic. Caravans haul the cargo from your estate to the harbour first.
Störtebeker's fleet hits Sandön. Join the island-wide defence to fight him off and take a share of the spoils.
Two new expert paths. Navigators cut your voyage times, and pirates raid other players' shipments at sea.
Pool your army with allies for a joint attack. Some of this season's fights are too big to win on your own.
Compete on the merchant and conquest boards. The top players earn titles at the end of the season that follow them to the permanent realm.
